Spencer is an actively practicing hospital pharmacist and small business owner. Spencer earned his board certification in pharmacotherapy specialty (BCPS) through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties and is a member of the American Society for Pharmacy Law and the American College of Clinical Pharmacy. Since 2006, Spencer has owned and operated Southeastern Continuing Medical Education Consultants, LLC, a nationally accredited provider of continuing pharmacy education through the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education. Spencer frequently gives educational lectures and presentations to multidisciplinary, healthcare provider audiences.

From June 2013 to September 2020, Spencer represented Congressional District 7 on the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy. While serving on the Board, Spencer gained valuable regulatory experience and fought to improve pharmacy workplace conditions and patient safety.

Spencer is an avid dove and duck hunter during the fall and winter months and also enjoys shooting skeet, trap and sporting clays. Additionally, Spencer likes to spend as much time as possible on the water in his boat cruising the various waterways around Georgetown, Winyah Bay and the Santee Delta.
